More militants lying dead in Atia Mahal: Home minister

The ‘Operation Twilight’, launched against the suspected militants at multi-storey building in Sylhet city, could be accomplished by tomorrow.

Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal expressed the hope while talking to Prothom Alo on Sunday.

“Two militants were killed in the operation, but there are more militants lying dead inside Atia Mahal, and some others are alive. There is a large quantity of explosives also.”

“The Army members are going slowly, so that there is no unnecessary casualties, they are not taking any risk,” the minister added.

Talking about militants’ existence in Bangladesh, the minister said, “We always say that militants exist in the country.”

“But, we are working to annihilate militancy from the country. We have already knocked down several dens of militants,” he added.

Asaduzzaman also vowed not to spare any militant in the country.
