Nur Hossain removed from councillor post

1587634978cf8de104ed4153d2f4fdcd-93dbdc512bd9d12f229006b6b14fdb15-Untitled-22Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven-murder case, has been removed from the councillor post of Narayanganj City Corporation on Sunday by the Local government ministry.

A circular by the Local Government Division, signed by senior assistant secretary Jasim Uddin Haider, said that Nur Hossain has been stripped off his Councilor post as per the section-13 under Local Government (City Corporation) Act-2009. The councillor position has been declared vacant.

Nur Hossain is the alleged mastermind of the abduction and brutal murders of Narayanganj councillor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar,and five other people. The victims were abducted on April 27 last year. Their mutilated bodies were found floating on river Shitalakkha a few days later.

Along with the 7-murder charge, Nur Hossain has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment in a case filed under Wildlife Preservation Act.

Nur Hossain, who fled to India after the murders, is now in an Indian jail following his arrest in Kolkata on 14 June. He is facing the charges of entering that country illegally.
